A farm wedding at Sylvanside
Autumn on a Loudoun County horse farm — a ceremony on the lawn, portraits under the willow, and a barn that ran late.
Sylvanside Farm sits in the fields west of Purcellville, and it gives you four completely different places to shoot inside one property: a white manor house, a stone bank barn that has been standing for well over a century, a weeping willow the size of a small building, and a timber-frame barn that holds a dance floor.
This one ran the length of an October afternoon into the dark. The ceremony was on the lawn under a floral arch with the light coming sideways through the oaks. Cocktail hour moved to the stone barn while the horses came up to the fence. Portraits happened under the willow just before the sun dropped behind the ridge, and the reception went until the barn lights were the only thing left on. What follows is the whole day, in order.
